Easy Methods of Energy Conservation

Energy conservation is the process of reducing energy quantities, which are used for various purposes. It is done to save energy for future consumption. Here are a few easy methods of energy conservation.

Install LED lights and bulbs- One of the easy methods of energy conservation is using LED lights and bulbs. So, if you are using incandescent bulbs, stop using them. LED lights are much more energy efficient and lasts longer than incandescent bulbs. One LED bulb can last for twenty years. It is also environment friendly with almost no ultraviolet emissions.

Do not keep electrical appliances on standby condition- Don’t forget to switch off your television and computer sets at the wall when you are not watching it. It can conserve a lot of energy.

Put an insulation blanket over your water heater- Covering your water heater with an insulation blanket can conserve a lot of energy. Also setting the thermostat not more than 50 degree Celsius is another effective method of energy conservation.

Use lids while cooking- This will help in saving energy. Also using pressure cookers can save around 70 percent of the energy.

Planting trees
- It not only absorbs carbon dioxide emissions but also cuts down the air conditioning bill by 10 to 15 percent.

Using renewable source of energy- Renewable source of energy like the wind and solar energy can be easily replenished despite using it several times.Unlike coal and petroleum it is not easily exhausted. Thus it helps in conserving energy.

Recycling of organic wastes- By recycling organic wastes one can cut down methane emissions. We should recycle organic waste and compose it in places like garden.

Using plug in thermostat- By using a digital plug in thermostat one can save up to 10 percent of the electricity costs.

Walk instead of driving- Walking instead of driving is an effective method of energy conservation. Car driving for miles of distance can give rise to carbon dioxide emissions. So it is better to walk than drive.

Regularly defrost your old refrigerators- Some refrigerators have inbuilt automatic defrosting cycles. But it is best to replace the old refrigerator with a newer one. The new refrigerators are two times more energy efficient than older ones.
