Sadly once these flowers are cut from the plants; it tends to reduce its vibrancy and aroma. But there are some species which lasts for a longer period of time even though cut from the bloom. Rose: Vase life of a rose is 7-10 days. You need to keep them in cool water. While buying a rose buy one with a firm head. Squeeze the bud to check the firmness. It is advisable to cut the rose submerged in the water. While cutting the stem, it breathes, so if submerged in water it will inhale the fresh water in its entire stem.

Orchid: It lives for 14-21 days in a vase. Water should be changed every day. Remove the faded flowers to restore the energy to the stem.

Carnations: Similar to the orchid it can live up to 21 days in a vase. For doing that, you need to remove the petals from the water. You can do innovation with white carnations by adding up colors to the water. Petals will take the color from the water.

Lily: A cut Lily can last up to 14 days in a vase. To increase the life, you need to remove the pollen pods. It can be done by using gloves or paper towel. All species of lilies are not fragrant. ‘Star gazer’ is a species which has got good fragrance.

Next time while you go to your home, cut the flower with an angle of 45 degree by a sharp knife before placing them into a vase.
